“Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near.” James 5:7-8 NIV

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: Some years ago when I was expecting something from God and it was taking some time for Him to answer such that I was feeling threatened, I prayed passionately and one day I heard “be patient”. That was not the answer I wanted and I was very sad and doubting if it was God. In my search for the word patient in the bible, I found Jeremiah 15:15 where he pleaded with God not to allow him to be killed by his enemies in His patience with them. I connected with Jeremiah. However, we need to understand patience.

James 5:7-8 that we are looking at today tells us how patience works. A farmer plants a crop and patiently waits for its fruit. It is God who will send the rain at the appropriate time for the plant to grow and bear fruit. He does not abandon his plantation while waiting for the rain. God protects the plants from all environmental adversaries until the plant yields fruit for him to enjoy.

Patience works to mature and complete us spiritually so that we lack nothing.
“And let patient endurance finish its work, so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” James 1:4 EHV. Being patient, I have learnt to be firm in well doing concerning whatever I desire and have joy and peace while waiting for God to perfect His work.

The Holy Spirit further impressed in my thoughts that I should be patient with not just others but myself, nature and He God Himself. A pregnant person waits for nine months for the baby to come. Patience teaches us to wait in hope for our desire no matter what. Wait, your desire comes.

I pray that you will be in your position to enjoy the fruit of your plantation when it comes ripe for eating in Jesus name.
