CLINGING TO GOD

“As a loincloth clings to a man’s waist, so I created Judah and Israel to cling to me, says the Lord. They were to be my people, my pride, my glory—an honor to my name. But they would not listen to me.” Jeremiah 13:11 NLT

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: I was considering which spiritual exercise is like what I can call the master key to godliness. The word ‘cling’ kept repeating in my mind. I was led to Jeremiah 13:11 where God says He created His people to cling to Him like the boxer or pant using today’s language clings to the waist. If I can master clinging to the Lord, then I will be wherever He is and I can say like Jesus that I and my Father are one or I see whatever my Father does and I do the same.

How do I cling to God? Our souls cling to something from time to time. Our souls or let me use a more familiar word our minds cling to something when we keep thinking intensely about the thing. Like when we need to pay a bill that we can’t afford, or a doctor gives a diagnosis then our minds are fixated on the issue. We can hardly forget about it and we search all methods to get it resolved in our hearts. This is clinging to whatever it is we are thinking intensely about. We can cling to good things that happen to us as well.

Instead of clinging to earthly temporal things, do the same with the word of God or just the name of God. Let God be your thought and always embrace Him in your heart. In joy and otherwise, THINK GOD. The more you think of God, the more you see Him and the more He guides you and the more godly you become. I can tell you that it is easier said than done. I am consciously trying. Progress is slow but the result I see from my little progress encourages me on.
