“Everything written in the Scriptures was written to teach us, in order that we might have hope through the patience and encouragement which the Scriptures give us.” Romans 15:4 GNT

HAPPY DAY TO YOU: I received this response from someone on the discussion of 3rd of May on reading through the bible every year. It goes thus:
“May the Lord help us to do His will. I have never read the bible from Genesis to Revelation as most people do. Not that I have not attempted to do it, yes I have attempted it many times when I hear or read messages from other christians who have done it. But it never worked for me. However I study my Bible everyday as the Holy Spirit inspired me and through that, I meditate on His words which I know it has helped me and still helping me in my walk with God. So I resolved to the fact that our walk with God can’t be the same approach as our God is not rigid. Just learn to listen and obey His commandment because His will is not difficult as the Holy Spirit helps us through our weaknesses. Good morning ma.”

This is a very true and sincere response to the teaching. I asked the Holy Spirit to help my own infirmity as I have a ‘knowing’ that was difficult to explain in words. Her statement that God is not rigid is true. That it is tough to go through the bible every year is equally true but all that said, it is beneficial to do it. If you don’t, it is not a sin but for your own benefit so you don’t shortchange yourself in your walk with God, it is good to persevere till you start enjoying it and continue yearly

From our verse for consideration today, all things recorded in scriptures are for our instruction to understand whatever may be happening in our lives. Different circumstances have had adverse effects on most people that look so strange as if God is powerless to do anything to help them. A wholesome knowledge of scriptures will comfort and guide one at all times and in all things. For this reason, a knowledge of all scriptures from beginning to the end makes one to have unshakeable faith. This is the foundation of knowing and enjoying God. We shall continue from here tomorrow on more of the advantages of reading through the bible yearly.

I pray that God will help us to organize our time and calm our worries so that we can draw close to Him in the word and give us understanding in Jesus name.
