PERCEPTION DETERMINES THE CONNECTION

“When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭16‬:‭13‬-‭16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

HAPPY DAY TO YOU; Two men were chatting about the condition of Nigeria. One of them lives permanently in the UK but comes home from time to time. The second one had japa to the UK and came back home. The one that lives in the UK sees Nigeria as bad and he can’t live and succeed there. The one that japa and came back sees Nigeria as the best place to live.

The first man didn’t have peace and comfort living in Lagos even for a short while. Met people who cheated him, saw the bad transport situation, saw many public facilities that do not work well etc Lagos was terrible from his perspective and he got the worst of Lagos. This man did not connect with Lagos from the good side. He connected from the bad side.

The one who came back to settle into Lagos that saw only goodness in Lagos is enjoying the weather even when it is super hot. He thanks God that he is free from pneumonia unlike when he was in London. He saw cheap labour for his domestic chores and maintenance of his house. He saw cheap transportation and many other things that are laudable. He saw friendly people and though the services in London are better than in Lagos, he saw room for expansion. He perceived the best side of Lagos and connected with it.

This is similar to how people perceived and accepted Jesus Christ then and even now. If you see Jesus as a prophet, you receive a prophet’s reward. If you see Him as the savior and Messiah, you receive the reward of salvation. Who do you say Jesus is? Your perception of Him determines your connection with Him and what you enjoy from knowing Him or about Him.

I pray that you will have an accurate perception of Jesus that will result in a fruitful living relationship with Him in Jesus name.
